“I graduated from Madhya Pradesh, and did my Masters in Design from Kannur in Kerala. I was there for two years. While I was looking for employment, I got a good opportunity in Pune. I have cousins and friends here and they all told me that I would like the city. I agree with them,” says Choubey, who relocated to Pune last year.

Jabalpur girl Akanksha Choubey is now in love with Pune. She moved to the city a year ago and thinks that it’s one of the best cities she has stayed in so far. A designer with legwear makers, Choubey has lived in Kannur, Kerala, for two years and stayed briefly in Bhopal, Noida and Mumbai.

Choubey, who lives in Viman Nagar, says that if she has to describe Pune in one word, it would be ‘moderate’. “Pune has got everything, but in moderation. The temperature is moderate. It’s not too hot or too cold. The people are amazing. Pune is getting urbanised, I can see that, but it’s not all dust!” she quips.

Most people who relocate to Pune from the North often are divided on the food options available here. But Choubey whole-heartedly roots for Pune. “I am a vegetarian, a ‘half vegan’ in fact. As compared to Kerala, Pune has amazing food. It has good options for vegetarians and vegans. In Kerala, I have suffered because of my eating preferences. Here, whatever I am craving for, I can get the food apps to deliver it to me in 30 minutes. The food service apps are not available in Jabalpur,” she says.

Until now, Choubey has always loved Jabalpur, because it’s her hometown. A Tier-III city, it is ranked high on cleanliness. It’s also a Smart City. But after living here, Pune is now ahead of Jabalpur.
