Aalok — Sangeet Shastra aur Prastuti is a video-series produced with the objective to document the thoughts of classical vocalist Dr Prabha Atre on theoretical and technical aspects of music making. The series also preserves contemporary North Indian classical music performance, aided by Atre’s musical compositions and audio-clips of other renowned artists. The video-series has now been released on YouTube. 

The series jointly produced by Dr Prabha Atre Foundation and Lalit Kala Kendra, Savitribai Phule Pune University, includes nine sessions focussing on ‘performance of music’ and 10 sessions on ‘theory of music’. The English version of the episodes will be uploaded by 2020.  

In other news, Dr Prabh Atre Foundation has also announced a competition in association with Gaanvardhan organisation. The competition in — classical, semi-classical, light vocal music genres — will be based on Atre’s compositions. 

The competition is open to participants in the age group of 18-35 years and can participate in one or all three categories. The last date for entries is June 30, 2019.
