The annual fashion show of Inter National Institute of Fashion Design (INIFD) Deccan was held at The Westin Hotel, Pune, on January 14. Each year, students study the forecast and create fashion collections of the calibre of international fashion runways that are commercially viable in India and abroad as well.

This year, INIFD Deccan’s Annual Fashion Show theme was —  Beaux Arts Vogue, which was inspired by global architecture. This parent theme had several sub themes, which included Mystical Nasir al-Mulk Mosque, Rebalance Dubai, Carved Karnataka, Vibrant Africa, Rococo Romance, Bohemian Escape, Exotic Russia and so on.

The event was judged by INIFD chief fashion mentor and designer Ashley Rebello — the man behind Salman Khan’s sartorial flair in Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Kick, Dabangg 2, Ek Tha Tiger, Bodyguard, Dabangg and Big Boss. He has also designed costumes for other Bollywood hit films.

Each theme was mentored by a fashion faculty where the mentors gave inputs on a daily basis to ensure that the students worked according to the inspiration and with the right amount of enthusiasm.

Third year fashion design student Jay Chavji said that the whole process was a life changing experience. He believes that fashion is a lot more than glamour and it takes a lot of creative intelligence to come up with a commercially viable design.

Well-known models like Candice Pinto, Archana Vadnerkar and Neha Deshpande added glamour to the fashionable night by walking the ramp and showcasing the fall’s must-have trends.
