Before heading to Lucknow for Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Milan Talkies, Ali Fazal ensured that he gave his dates to Richa Chadha for her short film, Lojikal. This will mark Richa’s directorial debut with Ali playing a key role of the social typecast reel villain. It is a well-known fact that both young actors are a fan of each other’s work and are pursuing their respective careers successfully.

They have collaborated in the past on the Fukrey franchisee, where Richa was the antagonist. “After writing the script, Richa approached Ali to experiment with a totally new character. Ali jumped at the opportunity of being a part of a socially relevant film and the added bonus was that Richa herself was directing the film. Working under Richa has been a pleasant surprise for Ali and has been a learning curve for both,” says a source close to the actor.

Speaking about his role and working on the film, Ali said, “I am that guy who gets to say Meri sohabat meri kamyaabi ka nishan hai. Ussi ka ek pehelloo yeh film hai. I am blessed that Richa thinks I am good. Because I am her fan. It’s a big compliment for me to be doing this little piece with her, for her, by her. My character is rather different from whatever I have done so far. Although it’s one of characters in the short film, I had a great time doing it. The look was very quirky and that added to the whole experience.”
