Young city musicians, Pranali Kale, Anup Gaikwad, Praful Sonkamble and Vishwanath Gosavi, who go by the name Kehen, will perform their fusion compositions based on the Indian classical ragas in the France World Music Festival to be held in Belfort city, between June 6-10. Kehen is the only Indian band selected for this festival.
The four artists came together because of their common interest in Indian classical as well as Western music. Their passion was transformed into interesting and crazy Kehen band featuring Kale, Sonkamble (vocals), Gosavi (harmonium and synthesiser) and Gaikwad (tabla and taalvadya). They also teach at Bharatiya Sangeet Prasarak Mandal’s Gandharv Mahavidyalaya. “We want to spread the message of universal integration through our unique fusions,” says Kale.
Parinita Marathe, vice- president, Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, said, “It is indeed a proud moment and honour for our institute as our teachers have been selected to perform at such a huge and prestigious festival.”
