As always, trade analysts have put their money on Salman Khan-starrer Tubelight even before its release. The film, being touted as one of the biggest releases post Baahubali: The Conclusion, also stars Sohail Khan, child actor Matin Ray Tangu, Chinese actress Zhu Zhu and Om Puri.
Mumbai-based NH Studioz has acquired the all-India distribution rights of the film, which releases today in 5550 screens worldwide and 4350 screens in India. The two-year-old NH Studioz, an initiative of Narendra Hirawat & Co has released films like Pink, Shivaay, Dear Zindagi, Begum Jaan, Half Girlfriend among others.
Shreyans Hirawat, director of NH Studioz isn’t new to the film business as Narendra Hirawat & Co is a pioneer in re-releasing Bollywood movies in untouched territories. Excerpts of our conversation with him:
You have distributed films like Shivaay, Pink, Dear Zindagi, Begum Jaan in the past but Tubelight is a big film and the stakes are much higher. The excitement too must be high?
Definitely. The excitement is at its peak among all our team members at NH Studioz. Considering the magnitude of the film and the combination of Kabir Khan and Salman Khan, Tubelight is easily one of the biggest movies to release this year. We find ourselves blessed to have this opportunity and are planning every step very strategically to ensure a very successful release of the movie.
There are reports about the film being bought by NH Studioz for a record amount of Rs 132 crore. It goes on to show the faith that you and your company have in the movie.
While the figures are confidential, there is no doubt in the faith we have in the film and its makers. They have consistently delivered brilliant movies year after year and this Eid again, Tubelight will be a treat for fans across India.
What is the strategy you are using to ensure that the film reaches a wider audience across the country?
The fan following of Salman Khan is huge in India and across the globe. And the combination of Kabir Khan and Salman Khan has worked year after year. Keeping the content of Tubelight in mind, we are sure it will be loved by both the single screen goers and the multiplex audience.
Therefore, we are aiming at maintaining an optimum balance of single screens and multiplexes. There are several other crucial factors that contribute towards the success of a movie. Our aim is to take the movie to the right audiences at the right time, keeping in mind their choice and tastes.
The Indian audience is quite unpredictable. What according to you makes a film work at the box-office?
We have always believed that content is what works at the box office. Indian audience is spoilt for choice but are very picky in terms of their expenses. However, content has always had dominance in this choice.
What are the upcoming films that NH Studioz is going to distribute?
We are distributing another big movie, Jab Harry Met Sejal which is releasing on August 4, across India.
